Liverpool's economy 'outperforming UK'
Monday, January 4th
Liverpool is in a strong position economically, and is doing better than other locations across the country.
That is according to council leader Warren Bradley, who emphasised that despite the city's positive showing, there would be no 'resting on laurels' in 2010, he told the Liverpool Echo.
He said that Liverpool is "in a strong position to weather the recession, with the latest visitor numbers, employment figures and economic statistics showing Liverpool is outperforming the rest of the country and region."
Mr Bradley went on to praise Liverpool's "superb" exam results, saying that these were beyond what could have been hoped for a decade ago.
Job creating projects such as the Echo Arena, which opened in 2008, have been pointed to by the council as examples of how Liverpool's economy has developed.
Recently, the Liverpool Echo reported that Merseyside shopping centre Liverpool One had been named a Green Business Ambassador by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
